S'pore Discovery Centre...I give it a 4

Our original plan was to start early this morning and head to the tree top walk, but it was raining when we got up and continued for another hour, so we changed our minds. Ended up being a mistake :-( Oh well, can't win them all!

So, we headed to the Discovery Centre and decided to try the iWERKS 2D and 3D movies as well as the shooting gallery.

The 3D movie, Dolphins and Whales: Tribes of the Ocean was excellent. You actually feel like you're in the water with them and it's sad to learn how human kind has polluted our oceans and hunted these mammals to the point of near extinction for some of the species.

The 2D movie, which came with our admission tickets was called Space Elevator and is about a young girl names Miku who travels to space for the first time to visit her father. It was very strange, but one thing I did find remarkable is that scientists believe that if all the nations of the world were to stop putting money into defense, weapons, etc. for one year, NASA would be able to build a space elevator by the year 2018 with the funds. Remarkable, but sadly, very unlikely.

After the movies, we went to the shooting gallery, which was probably my favorite part, although it was short lived. You get to shoot with either a SAR21 rifle, which I learned is what is used in military training here in Singapore or a SIG SAULER P226 pistol. We chose the rifles and shot at the "enemies" with forty rounds. I did okay considering it was my first time at a shooting gallery, but Jacob has had way too much practice, so he did well!

After a very short walk through the permanent exhibitions, we called it a day and headed out for lunch and then home. Definitely was not worth the money it costs in my opinion, but we would have never known if we didn't try!

We were thinking of going there, but went to the Science Center instead. From your review, I'm glad we didn't go.

4 out of 10. We didn't bring Juliana to the shows. One was 42 min. and the other was 32, so we knew she wouldn't have sat still!
