Botanic Gardens

This afternoon, we finally visited the Botanic Gardens...specifically, the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden. When we arrived, we had no idea how big the place was!! The walk from the main entrance to the children's garden was long and very, very hot!
So. here we are by the entrance.
Juliana took off as soon as we put her down, exploring the trees, picking up the leaves and playing in the grass.

One of her new favorite things to do is pick up flowers off the ground, smell them and hold them. This was just a random flower she picked up off the walkway...As you've noticed, I enjoy taking pictures of Juliana walking along with her daddy!! She's always pointing things out to him along the way.

Along the way, we passed through a bunch of other little gardens including the fruit trees and Eco garden. Finally, we arrived at the Children's Garden...and by that time, Juliana was pooped from all the walking and the heat! But she still thoroughly enjoyed the sights. The best part was that there was a section with miniature tables, chairs, trees, etc. She sat down with Pooh to enjoy the gardens!!

Shortly afterwards, the rain clouds rolled in and we had a downpour...fortunately, we got under cover quickly. It was a nice afternoon though and I would love to return to visit other parts of the garden.

The Botanical Gardens are really beautiful and well worth visiting over and over. But only to do one small section at a time!!

Some Sunday evenings they have Music in the Gardens too, down by the Lake area .... a lovely time to take a picnic.

.... and of course, then there is the Orchid Garden. Stunning displays of all the Orchids around Singapore.

You can also subscribe to the National Parks Newsletter and get first hand info on "whats on", well worth it:

THanks!!! I signed up for the newsletter and had no idea about the web page. I like the idea of Music in the Gardens. I think I just have to be careful about the time of day we go to avoid the heat!!!

I think you cannot avoid the heat .... and the humidity is at it's highest early morning too!

But at least there is always plenty of shade somewhere around the gardens...... and for the music, it starts from 6.00pm... which is not too bad, at least out of (most of) the sun.

Enjoy!
